At 2035 hours, units from Bladensburg and surrounding departments were alerted to 5207 Newton Street for smoke coming from the first floor. Engine 94 and Truck 9 (both with 5 men) arrived on the scene of a 2/3 story garden apartment building with smoke showing. With the crews making there way to the top floor, Quint 22 arrived on side "C" with fire showing from the second and third floor. Engine/Truck 9 found most of a unit off on the top floor and went to work. The Truck crew threw 4 ladders to side "A" and vented the roof, while the Engine and interior crew from the Truck started knocking the fire. Engine 30 stretched a back up line to the top floor and stood fast.

Engines 55,7 and Quint 22 worked on Division 2 where there was minimal extension to the utility closet. All fire was knocked down with-in 15 minutes of arrival and all searches came up negative. Command (Duty Chief 800) held the units from 9 and 30 for overhaul. Company cleared the scene at 2330 hours.
