At 0621 hours, communications alerted units to the area of Kenilworth Avenue and Riverdale Road for the house on fire. Engine 809 and Truck 809 responded with 9 men as the Third due engine and the First due Truck company. Engine 807 and Truck 809 arrived on the scene at 5413 Riverdale Road with heavy fire showing from the front porch area. While the two crews knocked the porch area, Engine 809 layed an additional line in from Kenilworth Avenue and positioned on side "C" for operations. Company 7 and 9 had the porch and basement knocked before they were pulled from the structure. After crews regrouped outside for a minute, they placed 6 lines into service knocking fire down on all three floors. All crews worked for the next two hours hitting as much as they could from the outside. Around 1000 hours, command released a hand full of units, while the remaining companies continued to work. Majority of the work was completed around 1100 hours. After getting a little help Charlies Towing, Engine and Truck 9 cleared the scene at 1215 hours.
