FILL IN CREW RUNS 37 CALLS AND THREE SMALL FIRES

     

Sunday, February 26, 2012 From Friday night until late Sunday evening, members from Companies 12, 14 and 33 filled in for the guys at Bladensburg. The members from Bladensburg took some time off from the station and enjoyed the Banquet Saturday night in Greenbelt Md.

During the two days, the crews at the station logged in 37 calls including two small fires. The first was Saturday evening when they sat down for dinner. Engine and Truck 9 were alerted first due to 5004 52nd Avenue (Edmonston) for the house fire. Units arrived on the scene of a single story home, with smoke from the attic area. Crews located a small fire in the attic near the front of the house. With only a small window on side "C" to gain entry, Truck 9 opened up the roof for the men to get inside. Engine 9 stretched there line up a ladder and the fire was knocked in about 5 minutes. Command Chief 9B scaled the the incident back to Bladensburg units only after 15 minutes.

After clearing an alarm bells call, Engine 94 was alerted 4th due to 7607 Villanova Drive in Berwyn Heights for the house fire. Company 14 was on the scene of a chimney fire with extension in the walls and filled out the assignment. Engine 94 was pulling up to the scene and Command scaled the incident back to two and two.

Sunday afternoon, Truck and Ambulance 9 were alerted to 625 Sheridan Street (Company 44) for the apartment fire. Units were on the scene with a couple rooms going. Ambulance 99 set up the aid station and Truck 9 set up the RIC team. Bladensburg units remained on the scene for 45 minutes before being released.

The crews did log in almost 9 hours of transfer time to Companies 34 and 39, while they operated at seperate fires.
